Questions related to the TRAX device

  • The TRAX device’s sensors capture lap times, speed, acceleration, and many other relevant data. The embedded SIM card then sends data to the cloud for AI-powered processing, allowing for instant data insights on your app.

  • Please check out the mounting instructions on our Get Started page.

The TRAX device can be mounted on any flat, as horizontal as possible surface on the kart using double-sided tape.

Important: The arrow printed on the TRAX device must point in the racing direction when mounted on your kart. (A slight offset is acceptable, but mounting it vertically or in the opposite direction will cause accuracy issues.)

For karts with Rotax Evo engines, we provide freely available 3MF files to 3D-print a mount for the battery cover, as visualized here. The ZIP file can be downloaded here.

  • The TRAX device requires a 12V power source. If your kart does not have a starter battery, we recommend using a lightweight external 12V battery to power the device.

  • No, if handled correctly, the Rotax TRAX device does not require regular maintenance. It is a sealed unit with an IP67 certification and it is designed for long-term use. However, we recommend inspecting the device occasionally for visible damage or debris around the connectors to ensure optimal performance. If you experience any issues, please contact our support team (form below).

  • Yes, the TRAX device comes with a 6-month warranty against manufacturing defects. If you need further assistance, please feel free to contact us (form below).

  • Currently, data export is not supported.

  • If required, firmware updates for the TRAX device can be performed over the air. In this case, you would receive an in-app notification with instructions.

  • The LED on the TRAX device provides status updates:

    • A steady LED indicates normal operation.

    • A flashing LED signals that the device is searching for a GPS signal or cellular connection.

If the LED turns off after a while, the device is saving power but still recording data as long as it is connected to a 12V power source.

  • As long as the device is supplied with 12V power, it will record data. The status LED turns off after a while to save power. We recommend disconnecting the device from the power source after use.

  • No. You only need to scan the QR code on the TRAX device with your TRAX app during the initial setup. Once racing, there’s no need to keep your phone nearby. The TRAX device has its own cellular connection and transmits data directly to a cloud server for real-time processing. After the stint, data analysis will be available in the TRAX app. While your phone must be connected to the internet, it does not need to be physically close to the TRAX device during use.

  • Yes, multiple people can share a single TRAX device as long as it is used sequentially. Each TRAX device can only have one active connection to a TRAX app user at a time. To share the device and ensure proper performance analysis, each racer must have their own TRAX app account to connect to the device individually.

  • Yes, a user can register multiple TRAX devices under the same account. This is useful for drivers who use different karts or teams managing multiple devices.

Once registered, the user can switch between devices in the app as needed. However, only one TRAX device can be actively connected and transmitting data at a time. Each stint will be assigned to the corresponding device, ensuring accurate tracking and analysis.

For guidance on managing multiple devices, visit the device settings section in the TRAX app.

Questions related to the TRAX app

  • Yes, depending on the subscription you choose, you can get up to a 1-month free trial. Simply download the app from the App Store or Google Play Store and follow the subscription process to activate your trial.

  • If you are logged into the TRAX app, tap the “Profile” tab, scroll down, and select “Change Password”. This will immediately send a password reset email to your inbox.

If you are logged out and forgot your password, select “Forgot Password” on the login screen to request a reset email.

In both cases, make sure to open your password reset email on the same phone where the TRAX app is installed (or forward the email to that phone). Check your spam folder if you don’t see the email.

Click the link inside the email, and the TRAX app will open with a prompt to set a new password.

  • We use the payment methods available in the respective app store.

  • Yes, you can use basic features of the TRAX app, such as viewing the community leaderboard and connecting with other kart racers from around the world. However, full functionality – including detailed analytics, Driver Score, and AI-powered coaching – requires the TRAX device. It can be purchased through your local Rotax dealer.

In rental scenarios or when sharing a TRAX device among friends, multiple users can connect to the same device sequentially. Please refer to the next question for more details.

  • By scanning the QR code located on your TRAX device, you can register it to your app. That way, all the data the device generates will be assigned to your account.

  • Unfortunately, this is not possible. A racing session must be started beforehand.

  • Using the TRAX app, you can create your own tracks, which we will then validate and prepare. Next time, you should be able to select the track with the layout.

  • The Driver Score is a unique metric that evaluates your racing technique, such as cornering precision, braking accuracy, and acceleration patterns. It provides a standardized way to compare your performance with others, regardless of kart type or track conditions.

  • No, TRAX does not provide live timing during sessions. However, all recorded data is analyzed and available to you immediately after each stint.

  • If you want to compare results within your team and keep everything in one place, we recommend setting up a private challenge in the TRAX app. This allows all team members to compete against each other while tracking their results in a dedicated leaderboard.

To do this, go to the Challenges section, tap the plus icon to create a new challenge, and set it to private. Invite your teammates, select the ranking criteria, and start comparing performances easily within your group.
