Video Tutorial
Once you have purchased your TRAX device through one of our local Rotax distributors and downloaded the TRAX app for iOS and Android, please follow our mounting tutorial to get started.
Important note: To install the TRAX device, you need a 12V power supply and a horizontal flat surface on your kart. TRAX will work with any engine-brand. For further details on compatibility and frequently asked questions, please check out our support page.

Option 1: General approach
- Connect the terminals of the power cable to your kart's battery.
- Attach the TRAX device to the power cable.
- Look for a position on your floor plate where you can securely mount your TRAX device. Make sure that the cabling can be done seamlessly from the TRAX device to the battery. Important: The arrow printed on the TRAX device must point in the racing direction when mounted on your kart. (A slight offset is acceptable, but mounting it vertically or in the opposite direction will cause accuracy issues.)
- Mount the connector to the chassis, so that it's easily accessible before and after your track sessions. We recommend unplugging your device after every session, in order to avoid battery drain.

Option 2: Using a 3D-printed battery mount
- For karts with Rotax Evo engines, we provide freely available 3MF files to 3D-print yourself a mount for the battery cover (as visualized here). The ZIP file can be downloaded here. Next, print the 3D part using a provider of your choice.
- Glue the 3D-printed mount to the battery cover's top.
- Install the TRAX device on top of the 3D-printed mount.
- Connect the terminals of the power cable to your kart's battery.
- Attach the TRAX device to the power cable. Make sure that all the cables are integrated neatly into your chassis.

Step 1: Home Screen
Alright, you’re in! After signing up, you’ll land on the Home Screen, your racing hub for TRAX insights, updates, and community action. Scroll through to see key stats like fastest lap times and Driver Scores – and don’t worry, we’ll break those down later. Tap a stint for detailed data, including the exact driving line they took.
In the top right, you’ll find notifications and the community icon. Search for a name, add friends, and start following their racing journey. And don’t just watch – engage! Like stints, stay competitive, and connect with the TRAX community.

Step 2: Leaderboard
Now, let’s check out the Leaderboard – your go-to tool for tracking progress and stacking up against the competition. By default, it’s sorted by distance driven, showing how much track time and experience you’ve built up compared to others. But that’s just the start.
Tap the red button in the top left to switch the ranking criteria based on what you want to measure. One key metric here is Seat Time, which tracks your total hours in the kart. Then there’s Repeatability, a crucial measure of how consistently you hit the same lap times. Precision and control are what separate great drivers from the rest. A high Repeatability Score means you're nailing your laps with consistency, while a lower score shows room for improvement.
Beyond that, you can also filter by Best and Last Driver Score or Best and Last Lap Time. Since these stats depend on specific tracks and layouts, they aren’t globally comparable. To get accurate insights, it's best to add a track filter. Simply tap "Add Filter", select a specific race track, or fine-tune results by date range and other criteria for more precise comparisons.

Step 3: Challenges
Are you up for a challenge? With TRAX, you can compete against friends and rivals anytime, anywhere – no need to schedule a live event. Whether you’re testing your skills, pushing your limits, or just adding excitement to your sessions, challenges keep the competition going.
On the Challenges screen, you’ll find a list of active challenges. Tap one to check the details and join in. Want to narrow your search? Use the top navigation bar to filter by different criteria.
In the Created tab, you’ll see all the challenges you’ve set up. Ready to create your own? Tap the plus icon in the top right. Give it a cool name, add a short description, and choose a ranking metric that determines the winner. If your chosen metric depends on a track, like Lap Time or Driver Score, you’ll need to select a specific track. Otherwise, leave it empty, and the challenge will be global.
Finally, invite your friends and competitors. Choose whether to make the challenge public or keep it exclusive to a select group. Challenges keep you motivated, competitive, and always improving. So what are you waiting for? Get in and start racing!

Step 4: Data Analysis
If you’re serious about getting faster, guessing won’t cut it – you need real data to back it up. That’s where Data Analysis comes in. Rotax TRAX is your key to unlocking better lap times, understanding your driving style, and pinpointing exactly where you can improve.
Tap on any stint, and you’ll get a detailed breakdown of your session. Front and center is your Driver Score. It’s an index from 0 to 100, that tells you how much of your kart’s full potential you used. Unlike raw lap times, this score isolates your driving technique from your kart’s mechanical performance, so no matter what setup you’re running, your score reflects your pure skills behind the wheel.
Scroll down to dive deeper into crucial metrics. The G-force data and acceleration peaks help you analyze your driving style and even spot areas where your kart setup might be holding you back. By combining these insights with your Driver Score, you’ll get a complete picture of what’s working — and what’s slowing you down.
Want to see how you stack up against the competition? Hit the Compare button to match your data against other drivers. Whether it’s lap consistency, acceleration patterns, or Driver Score, this feature shows you exactly where you’re winning and where you need to improve.
So, stop guessing. Start progressing. TRAX gives you the tools — now it’s up to you to use them!

Step 5: Rotax Coach
Cutting lap times isn’t just about going faster – it’s about knowing where and how to improve. That’s exactly what Rotax Coach does. One of the most powerful features of TRAX. It’s like having a personal racing mentor, breaking down your laps and showing you where you’re losing time – and more importantly, how to fix it.
At the bottom of every stint, you’ll find your driving line along with two key sections – S1 and S2. These highlight the areas where you lost the most time and have the most potential to gain. Tap on a section, and you’ll see exactly what’s holding you back.
Rotax Coach doesn’t just tell you that you’re losing time – it tells you why. Whether it’s coasting too long, braking too early, or missing the apex, it pinpoints the exact part of the turn that’s costing you. Even better, it gives you a performance score, just like the Driver Score, so you can see how much time you’re leaving on the table and how close you are to nailing the perfect lap. Want to know what the fastest drivers are doing differently? Use the comparison feature to analyze their data against yours and spot the differences.
